Human Fecal NGAL (LCN2) ELISA Kit

Description

This ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) kit is intended for the quantitative measurement of human neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (Lipocalin-2, NGAL) in feces.

Patient may have an abnormally high level of NGAL in feces with active inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), such as Crohn's disease, colitis ulcer, etc.

This ELISA kit is for in-vitro diagnostic use.

Background

NGAL (neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin, Lipocalin-2, LCN2, oncogene 24p3) is a protein encoded by the LCN2 gene. NGAL is involved in innate immunity by sequestering iron, which in turn limits bacterial growth. It is expressed in neutrophils and in low levels in the kidney, prostate, and epithelium of the respiratory and alimentary tracts. Studies have shown that NGAL is an early biomarker for ischemic renal injury after cardiopulmonary bypass.
